Superstar LaBron James Opens New School in Akron, Ohio


NBA Superstar LaBron James is more than just King on the court, but sharing his wealth in the game of life.

The 33-year-old veteran player recently opened an I Promise School for 240 at-risk third and fourth grade students in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. The school is a joint venture between LeBron James Family Foundation and Akron Public Schools system.

“We just want everything for them,” the three-time NBA champion said. “Everything and more. So it’s going to mean a lot to me.” (according to

  • Free Transportation within 2 miles
  • Free Breakfast, Lunch and Snacks
  • Food Pantry for families
  • GED and Job Placement services for parents
  • Guaranteed tuition to the University of Akron for every student who graduates
