What an historical week the nation has experienced. In the truest formation of this website digital content on everything I love, here is some of my favorite moments from earlier this week (August 27-31, 2018).
The King of Pop as he rests in eternity brilliant musical genius and artistic expression continues to transcend generations. Social Media was buzzing off the meter in celebration of his Birthday on Thursday, August 29, 2018. Long Live the King, Michael Jackson.
When Missy Elliott step onto the stage in honor of Janet Jackson at the BMI R&B Hip-Hop Awards 2018, I was completely enamored. Her words were certainly seasoned with a level of love and admiration for the iconic Janet Jackson.
From the moment she entered the room to take her seat center stage to witness the incredible tribute prepared by BMI will be forever etched into my memory bank. The legendary performer, BMI’s Icon Award recipient and stunningly beautiful, Janet Jackson is a force of nature one can never deny is a gifted soul. Her humble spirit and girlish charm is captivating. It was such an honor to be in the same room with this black girl who will forever rock generations past, present and future, Janet Jackson. #BMIR&BAwards
Serena and sister Venus faced off this week at the US open. Congratulations to Serena for claiming the win to advance forward in the competition.
These two women siblings by birth continue to defy the odds by curating their own script in the arena of Tennis. Good Luck to Serena as she continues in the tournament.
Hail to Queen! Aretha Franklin family crafted a three-day celebration fit for a Queen. Without a speculation left to the imagination, the city of Detroit loved the legendary Ms. Aretha Franklin.
The Homegoing celebration lasted over seven hours for dignitaries, government officials, influencers, celebrities and more to pay their R.E.S.P.E.C.T. to the Queen. One thing is for sure this funeral will be recorded in the history books because there was definitely some iconic moments to witness.
Listening on yesterday and reading more information about Aretha Franklin, she was not just a singer. Her music was a healing balm for the souls of men and women be it gospel or secular, she was intentional. Her funeral connected two giants in the space of religion Minister Louis Farrakhan and Bishop Jakes embrace.
A living legend, Smokey Robinson words and a portion of the song he sang dedicated to Ms.Franklin brought me tears. He sang, I’m gonna miss you my buddy. Ok! I lost it.
Jennifer Hudson, I loved her look from head to tie. She looked like a star! Jennifer’s performance was excellent.
Come on Hat! At the tender age of 93, actress Cicely Tyson is showing no signs of surrendering to time. As a matter of fact, Ms. Tyson is owning her time. Ageless beauty personified.
History! Another one for the books. Fantasia pays her final respects to the Queen. I promise this image will live past the life span of Fantasia. I agree with a friend of mine, this image can represent the passing of the mantle from one generation to the next.
